Terms of Use

This is a courtesy translation. The Portuguese version is the legally binding one.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the Latvs platform, operated by Miguel Octacilio Plaza, a natural person domiciled in Florianópolis/SC, Brazil, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Account and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Latvs.
  • Registration information must be truthful and up to date.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity on your account.
  • Account sharing among multiple users is not permitted; team plans are available on request.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that infringes copyright, professional confidentiality, or sensitive personal data of third parties without a legal basis.
  • Use the platform to generate academic fraud, plagiarism, or manipulation of scientific evidence.
  • Attempt to bypass technical limits, perform mass scraping, reverse engineering, or exploit vulnerabilities.
  • Resell, sublicense, or expose the service to third parties without our written authorization.
  • Upload malware or manifestly illegal content.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension and, where applicable, notification to the authorities.

4. Your content

You retain full ownership of the content you upload (PDFs, annotations, manuscripts). You grant Latvs a limited, non-exclusive license, revocable at any time, to host, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the service for you. Once the account is closed, the license ceases after the retention period described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not train AI models with your material. We do not share content with third parties except to operate the service, as listed in the Privacy Policy.

5. Artificial intelligence

Latvs uses language models (LLMs) via OpenRouter for tasks such as assisted screening, synthesis, and translation. AI outputs are suggestions that require human review: you are responsible for verifying factual accuracy, citations, and methodological soundness before publishing or submitting any manuscript.

We do not guarantee the absence of inaccuracies in model outputs. Citations suggested by the agent point to real sources within your library, but final verification rests with the researcher.

6. Plans, credits and billing

  • Current plans, with quotas and prices, are at latvs.app/#planos.
  • Charges are processed via Stripe, in Brazilian reais (BRL).
  • Renewal is automatic according to the contracted cadence, until cancellation.
  • AI credits renew monthly and do not roll over; one-off packs do not expire.
  • Applicable taxes are included or itemized on the invoice.

7. Cancellation and refund

  • You may cancel at any time through your account's billing area; cancellation takes effect at the end of the already-paid cycle.
  • Within 7 days of initial purchase, pursuant to art. 49 of the CDC (Brazilian Consumer Code), you may request a full refund in writing to support.
  • After that period, proportional refunds are at our discretion, in cases of proven unavailability.

8. Availability and changes to the service

We aim for continuous availability, but we do not offer a nominal SLA on individual plans (an SLA is available in institutional contracts). We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, giving reasonable advance notice when the change is material.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Brazilian law, Latvs is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, lost academic opportunity, decisions by scientific journals, or manuscript rejections. Latvs's aggregate liability, in any event, is limited to the amount actually paid by you in the 12 months prior to the event.

10. Intellectual property

The Latvs brand, software, design, and the platform's own content are protected by applicable laws. These Terms transfer no rights over them, except the license of use described.

11. Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with prior notice whenever possible. In serious violations (fraud, illegal content), termination may be immediate.

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The courts of the District of Florianópolis/SC, the controller's domicile, are elected to settle disputes, without prejudice to the consumer's option to choose their own domicile where applicable.
