This page summarizes, in plain language, how Latvs complies with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,709/2018). For the full processing details, see the Privacy Policy.
Principles we apply
- Purpose: we only collect what is needed to deliver the contracted service.
- Necessity: data is limited to the minimum viable for each declared purpose.
- Transparency: everything we collect is described in the Privacy Policy.
- Security: encryption at rest and in transit, per-workspace RLS, least-privilege principle.
- Non-discrimination: we do not use data to discriminate against researchers by field, institution, or affiliation.
- No training: your content does not train Latvs's AI models nor those of third parties.
Your rights (art. 18, LGPD)
As a data subject, you may exercise the rights below at any time:
| Right | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Confirmation and access | Know whether we process your data and receive a copy. |
| Correction | Update incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data. |
| Anonymization, blocking, or deletion | Remove unnecessary, excessive, or non-compliantly processed data. |
| Portability | Export data in an open format suited to the content type: references in CSV/RIS/BibTeX, manuscripts in Markdown/DOCX, glossary in CSV, PDFs in the original. For formats not covered by a tool, ask the Officer. |
| Deletion of data processed with consent | Remove data whose processing relied exclusively on your authorization. |
| Information about sharing | Know with which public and private entities we share your data. |
| Information about not consenting | Know the consequences of refusing consent (generally, loss of optional features). |
| Withdrawal of consent | Cancel the consent granted at any time. |
| Review of automated decisions | Request human review of decisions affecting you that are made solely by algorithms. |
| Complaint to the ANPD | File a petition with the National Data Protection Authority. |
How to exercise them
- Send an email to support@latvs.app with the request and, if possible, the email registered to your account.
- We may request proof of identity to prevent fraud.
- We respond within 15 business days, per art. 19 of the LGPD. If the request requires complex technical analysis, we will communicate a reasonable additional deadline.
- The service is free. In case of a manifestly excessive or unfounded request, we may charge a reasonable administrative cost (extremely rare).
Automated decisions and AI
Latvs uses language models to suggest inclusion/exclusion in screening, extract fields in synthesis, and translate texts. None of these suggestions is a final automatic decision: the researcher reviews and decides. You may request human review of any output at any time by writing to support.
